Sociedad Española de Enfermería Nefrológica: presente y futuro

Abstract

At the recent congress in Granada, the Executive Board (Standing Committee) of the Spanish Society of Nephrology Nursing (SEDEN) should have been renewed after the three-year statutory period, plus a further year's extension, of the current Board. Clearly, this has occurred because no other candidature has been presented within the deadline established in the current statutes. Faced with this situation, the Board decided to postpone for another year their mandate, in order to avoid the appointment of a Permanent Supervisory Management Committee in accordance with point 8.5 of the SEDEN Statutes, which could potentially lead to the dissolution of the Society.
This situation has been repeated in recent mandates. Although SEDEN's members perceive this situation calmly, seeing it as a temporary circumstance, it deserves to be seen as a worrying reality that needs to be thoroughly analysed if we wish our Society to have a future.
Few scientific nursing societies in Spain like SEDEN can be proud of their history, membership, infrastructure, expertise and publications, among other things. However, it is hard to find members willing to take responsibility for this work.
