Abstract
With this attractive slogan, Toledo will welcome us from the 15th to the 17th of October in what will be the XXXIX National Congress of the SEDEN. Few scientific nursing societies can boast of turning 39 and bringing together nearly 1500 nurses as members. For several decades, our predecessors have been in charge of remembering a past without which there would be no present, nor could the future be projected. In a brief, concise and heartfelt way, they have reminded us of the great dose of hope and motivation that drove a group of nurses to create, maintain and grow our society, with an almost artisan effort and dedication, due to the scarcity of means. This group of nurses, who made possible the reality that is SEDEN today, was never limited only to the board of directors. There has always been an important group of collaborators who have "felt" SEDEN as something very much their own, who have not only collaborated in the different projects that have been developed throughout these years, but whose contribution has been more important, forming a fundamental group of opinion, with a lot of specific weight. His influence has enabled the different boards of directors to make few important mistakes in the course of the Company's events. This group has had another key mission, to take on management positions from the experience accumulated in the proximity of their predecessors. Obviously, this being a very personal analysis, I believe that it has been the most relevant mechanism in the generational replacement of elected officials. However, this model has been exhausted: for 4-5 terms, the current Board has had to extend the mandate because there were no candidates at the end of the mandate, having to assume a year's extension for which they had not presented themselves; something which may be contradictory, in a society that is so active and enjoys such good "health" at all levels.
